One definition of an Altered Book is . . .  "any book, old or new that has been recycled by creative means into a work of art. They can be ... rebound, painted, cut, burned, folded, added to, collaged in, gold-leafed, rubber stamped, drilled or otherwise adorned ... and yes! it is legal!"

This definition comes from ISABA: The International Society of Altered Book Artists - a non-profit Organization that is dedicated to promoting altered books as an art form. Check out their website for more info. I'm a member and you'll find my own member's page there.

A Round Robin is an exchange where participants work on each other's projects. In this case, everyone starts with their own book to alter and the books are passed (mailed to) each participant until everyone has worked in all of the books for the exchange.
